Foldable smartphones are having their day in the sun, with Samsung and Honor trying to out-thin one another with their products (Honor is leading with the Honor Magic V6, if you're interested). But Google is staying out of this skirmish, and just... well, focusing on itself.

This is the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which is as dependable as any of Google's products. Compared with its previous model—the Pixel 9 Pro Fold—the new model's frame is fashioned out of higher-strength aluminium and has an upgraded steel hinge. Dimension-wise, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold remains the same as its predecessor (155.2 x 76.3 x 10.8 mm when folded and 155.2 x 150.4 x 5.2 mm when unfolded), but, at least, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold's inner and outer screen are brighter and has a certified IP68 rating for full dust and water protection.

There's an upgrade in processing power, with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold adopting a Tensor G5 processor; this lets it operate up to 34 per cent faster and more efficiently. So you can put it through the paces, utilising Gemini Live, multitask, and photo-edit... all without the device burning up in your hands.

For battery capacity, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is now 5,015mAh and has a Qi2 charging. The foldable has built-in magnets that allows for "Pixel Snap" accessories (do you mean "Magsafe" accessories, you ask. Shhh). You get seven years of Android OS updates and security patches and the camera system still holds up, thanks to the the three-camera setup (main, ultrawide with macro, and a 5x optical zoom telephoto) and Google's AI-driven computational photography tools.

As it is, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is as dependable as it comes. Will the next gen of Google foldable be better? Of course. But for now, if dependability is key to your next foldable purchase, coupled with a pure Android software, a tough IP68 build, and the usual camera wizardry, Pixel 10 Pro Fold is something to consider.
