Magic is Real with HONOR's Thinnest and Most Durable Foldable

How can a foldable device be this slim, and, yet, remain so stubbornly durable?
Published: 7 June 2026

A month ago, HONOR was in the news when their robot (named "Lightning") competed in the Beijing E-Town Half Marathon (21.1-km) and shattered the human half-marathon record in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This was a huge stride from last year's race, where the fastest timing by a robot was over two hours.

What made this year's achievement stand out even more was that Lightning's operation was autonomous; using only its built-in AI, Lightning managed to adjust its balance, pace, and adapt to the terrain.

This time, the Chinese AI device ecosystem company, deliver another tech innovation: the HONOR Magic V6, a foldable smartphone with unprecedented durability, largest battery capacity, Apple cross-ecosystem connectivity, in spite of its ultra-thin design.

Measuring at 8.75mm when folded (4.0mm when unfolded), and weighing about 219g; it is the slimness that rebuffs the idea of the phone's ultra durability. It's a classic engineering problem, especially when applied to a smartphone- nay, a foldable smartphone, at that. There are two key features that placed the HONOR Magic V6 above all others: a Super Steel Hinge and an anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield display.

As a foldable, the Super Steel Hinge is made with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa. To put it in perspective, the pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench is about 110 MPa; the Super Steel Hinge can resist 25 times more than that. HONOR demonstrated the Super Steel Hinge's capabilities by having the device tow a "1.25-tonne aircraft and a sports car". Designed for long-term use, the hinge is also tested up to 500,000 folding cycles.

The second is the Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield outer display that has a 5,600-layer silicon nitride coating structure. This means the device has 10 times better drop resistance, 15 times improved scratch resistance, and three times wear resistance. We saw a demo where a scourer was used against the display, and there was nary a scratch. (The inner screen has an Ultra-Tough Glass upgrade.)

Again, for a foldable that weighs 219g, the HONOR Magic V6 has a souped-up battery life of 6,660mAh (the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215g but has a battery life of 4,400mAh). As opposed to using the standard graphite lithium-ion battery, it uses a silicon-carbon battery that allows it to pack more energy, and have faster charging speeds.

Designed to work across Android and Apple ecosystems, the HONOR Magic V6 lets users manage files, notifications and accessories more easily. Users can access and manage iCloud files, and enable one-tap transfer of files, photos and videos among the HONOR Magic V6, iPhone and MacBook. It also supports Cross-OS Magic Ring for Mac Screen Extension—the foldable can be utilised as a second display for a MacBook. If you use the AirPods, the HONOR Magic V6 supports pairing, noise controls and Find My tracking, while syncing notifications across iPhone and Apple Watch.

The HONOR Magic V6 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, has IP68 and IP69 protection, and includes a 64MP telephoto camera with CIPA 6.5 image stabilisation. It also comes with a Portrait Engine and Magic Pose for AI-guided posing suggestions.

It comes in four colourways: Classic Black, Sunrise Gold, Ivory White and, apparently, Nicholas Tse's, HONOR's global brand ambassador, favourite, Ferghana Red, which has a textured eco-leather/horsehide with a wavy, velvet-like star trail pattern finish.

Pre-orders for the HONOR Magic V6 (SGD 2,599) are open now until 11 June.

For every device purchase, a Flagship Action Camera OSMO ACTION 6 and 365-day inner and outer screen protection are included. Pre-orders can be made at selected telco partners (M1, Singtel and StarHub), retail partners (Harvey Norman, Best Denki, KrisShop), and HONOR Experience Stores.
