It's another Sony digital showcase of upcoming PlayStation games. For this outing, the presentation ran over an hour, making it one of the longest in its broadcast series. If you missed the livestream, you can still watch the archived telecast at the end of this post but enough jibber-jabber, here are some of the highlights from the presentation.
So, the game was delayed to May but we got a story trailer that taps into a young James Bond's early days as an agent. For some reason, this gives me a Kingsman vibe but with the trappings of a le Carré novel.
The fighting game adds two X-Men to its roster of combatants, which brings us to 20 players to choose from. Because I've poor hand-eye coordination, I'm sitting on the sidelines of this when it's released 6 August?
When it comes to the John Wick films, it makes logical sense for it to translate really well as a video game medium. The result was the 2019 John Wick Hex that was a timeline strategy game (think turn-based mechanic with a combat management system where you map out Wick's action on a visual timeline). Reviews for it were mixed. Now, it there's another game and, while it didn't show any gameplay, it carries a spirit of it being a third-person action-adventure instalment. Maybe. Reeves, who is no stranger to video games (see Cyberpunk 2077; Armored Core episode of Secret Level), also looks to be reprising his role in it.
Are you ready for more survival gameplay that's actually your protagonist's manifestation of their internal fears and psychological damage? Rejoice for another Silent Hill game! This time, game developer Konami teamed with Annapurna Interactive for a stab at the franchise. From the trailer, it looks like it could be first-person, which would be the first in the series. Can it live up to Silent Hill f? We'll find out when the game drops this year.
An open-world RPG where a chicken warrior is kicking ass? Yes, please.
First announced at last year's Game Awards, we have a more comprehensive look at the gameplay in Control Resonant. Eschewing its third-person shooter style in Control for a more action playmode, the fights look trippy, which fits into a world where reality is a suggestion.
Okay, so it's not a reveal about the next God of War game. Instead we have a remake of the original God of War trilogy for PS5 and a sidescroller called Sons of Sparta. It stars a younger Kratos before all that god-killing shenanigans. The more surprising aspect of Sons of Sparta? It's now available to play.
