Visit an Art Exhibition

At a time when art spaces can often feel intimidating or out of reach, Supper House is quietly inviting you to their space. Their latest initiative—a series of pop-up exhibitions nestled within the Journey East furniture store—blurs the lines between the everyday and the extraordinary. Ong Si Hui’s opening show, 開門見山, is a prime example as its serene sculptural works invite reflection, not spectacle, and carry the weight of time and travel in their quiet forms.

With new “micro-shows” appearing regularly and an upcoming satellite exhibition at Jurong West’s Blk 505 wet market, they’re proving that art doesn’t need a pristine gallery or polished crowd to make an impact. By meeting people where they are—whether browsing furniture or buying bok choy—they’re chipping away at the idea that art is something separate from life.

When: Now till 29 July, from 10am to 6pm
Where: Journey East Store, #03-02 Tan Boon Liat Building, 315 Outram Road

Immerse Yourself at a Jazz Concert

There’s something undeniably romantic about the sound of jazz drifting through a grand hotel lobby. The new Jazz & Wine series transforms the Lobby Lounge into an intimate haven where music, elegance and fine wine come together in perfect harmony. Whether you’re a seasoned jazz lover or simply in search of a sophisticated night out, the experience feels indulgent without being pretentious, refined yet welcoming.

The series opens with none other than Jacintha, one of Singapore’s most beloved jazz icons. Her voice fills the space with a kind of quiet grandeur. Backed by a full band, she promises to deliver each song with a depth that lingers long after the last note fades. In a city that’s always on the move, evenings like these are a rare treat; an invitation to slow down, raise a glass, and let the music take over.

Watch a Local Production

Murder in the Waiting Room is as twisted as it is timely, a deliciously dark comedy-thriller that locks a room full of the world’s worst people in a therapist’s converted bomb shelter and watches the chaos unfold. With no wifi, no way out, and no clear culprit, the tension ratchets up with every confession, eye-roll and pointed accusation. And when someone ends up dead; the question isn’t just whodunnit, it’s who hasn’t fantasised about doing it.

What makes this razor-sharp satire so compelling is the bold voice behind it. Created and performed by Wild Rice’s fifth Singapore Youth Theatre ensemble, it’s a production that speaks directly to the anxieties, contradictions and absurdities of our era. If you’ve ever rolled your eyes at a rebranded narcissist or felt like screaming into the abyss during a team-building session, this one’s for you.

Immerse Yourself with Italian Films

(THE PROJECTOR)

Returning for its 14th edition, the Italian Film Festival is more than just a cinematic showcase; it’s a love letter to storytelling, served with espresso intensity and a dash of Mediterranean flair. Organised by the Embassy of Italy in Singapore, alongside The Projector and Singapore Film Society, this year’s festival feels particularly special. It marks 60 years of diplomatic ties between Italy and Singapore. A milestone that makes the festival’s cultural exchange feel all the more poignant, like a long-overdue dinner between old friends.

One of the key highlights for the Film Festival is Diamanti, Ferzan Özpetek’s sumptuous ode to womanhood, and closing the festival with Arsa, a trippy, sensory feast by MASBEDO. As well as, award-heavy hitters like Paolo Sorrentino’s Parthenope and the modern classic La Grande Bellezza, but also brace yourself for the unexpected; true crime with The Negotiator (Il Nibbio), mafia secrets in Sicilian Letters (Iddu - L’Ultimo Padrino), and Olympic nostalgia in La Valanga Azzurra. Even the animated feature Bartali’s Bicycle (La Bicicletta di Bartali) packs an emotional punch. Whether you’re here for arthouse elegance, raw real-life drama or simply to lose yourself in a story well told, this festival proves that Italian cinema—like a good bottle of Barolo—only gets better with time.

Visit a Bakery

Tiong Bahru Bakery is closing the doors for its iconic Eng Hoon Street flagship this July, but don’t panic just yet. This isn’t goodbye, it’s a glow-up. After 13 years of buttery croissants, endless queues, and neighbourhood charm, the bakery that made sourdough sexy is getting its biggest revamp to date. The renovation marks a bold new chapter for TBB, one that promises even more of what we love, just with a fresher face.

But trust TBB to make even a temporary farewell feel like a party. The brand is launching Excuse My French, a playful limited-time celebration of its dual heritage. Think French elegance meets Singaporean kopitiam flair. The highlight? A Petit Déjeuner set (from $12++), where you build your own breakfast trio—viennoiserie, coffee and juice—served on a silver tray that’s more atas kopitiam than Parisian café.

Of course, there are new treats as well. The Pain au Pandan is a buttery, coconut-laced love letter to local flavour, wrapped in perfectly laminated croissant layers. And if your tastebuds lean savoury, you can upgrade to a Croissant Sandwich with Roast Beef, Brie & Mushroom and more in the mix. It’s a cheeky final hurrah done in the TBB way.

When: Now till 30 June 2025

Live Out Your Jurassic Park Dreams

(NEON)

Having made its rounds in Paris, London, and Colombia, Jurassic World: The Experience is now stomping its way onto our sunny shores—more specifically, into the cool, lush foliage of the Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay. Expect to encounter towering, lifelike animatronic dinosaurs, such as a roaring Tyrannosaurus emerging from a wreath of mist, or a Stygimoloch attempting to free itself from a freight container. There’s even an 8.5-metre-tall Brachiosaurus ready to greet you, surrounded by 3D replicas of long-extinct plants dating back to the Jurassic period.

Do be warned that the effects are highly realistic, so it’s worth mentally preparing your child if you have one of those. But if they do end up in tears, there are petting stations where baby dinosaurs are ready to sniff their hands and be petted.

Try Odem's New Exclusive Brunch Menu

Hwe-Dupbap (bSIDE)
Duck Guksu (bSIDE)

If you've done any sauntering around New Bahru since its inception, you might've noticed a clanedestine Korean restaurant tucked in the corner of the ground floor. Odem, Singapore’s first craft Makkoli bar and restaurant, has recently released a new lunch menu focused on hearty one-bowl meals—each paired with banchan (think house-made kimchi and marinated quail eggs), rice, and seaweed soup.

Before we get to the mains, do yourself the favour of ordering their Brioche, a ridiculously addictive bun glazed with sweet soy, served warm with a smear of gamtae butter. Yes, we're still raving about it.

Weekend brunch brings the Kalbi Sando—beef short rib, perilla pickles, and aged cheddar on milk bread—and the refreshing Duck Guksu, featuring BBQ duck on perfectly chewy buckwheat noodles with perilla seed sauce. Chef Yumi’s Abalone Boribap, a nostalgic nod to her childhood, is a must: tender abalone, pearl barley, and a silky makkoli-abalone jus. These dishes are exclusive only to the weekend, so you'll want to make your plans accordingly. And yes, their makkoli flights are there if you’re feeling bold at noon on a Saturday.

Sidenote: They also have a weekday lunch menu, which includes the Hwe-Dupbap, a Korean-style chirashi loaded with fresh seafood, spicy perilla, and cho-gochujang, or the Seoul-Style Beef Bulgogi, where tender grilled beef meets crunchy veggies and glass noodles.

When: 11:30am to 2:00pm weekends only
