Honesly, they had me at "From the visionaries behind LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS". But an anthology about video games, hey, that's a bait I'm willing to take too. Called Secret Level, teaser for the anthology was shown at the recent Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase and reaction to it were near-universally positive and it's warranted.

Amazon MGM Studios and Blur Studio produce Secret Level and is created by and executive produced by Tim Miller. Dave Wilson serves as executive producer and supervising director. Fifteen video games will see their lore expanded on Prime Video's streaming site.

From the teaser, we saw familiar scenes from favourite video games like God of War; Sifu; The Outer Worlds. It felt like these could be expansions from the games they are based on. Who wouldn't want to know what other shenanigans grumpy Kratos is up to? We were hoping that there would be stories from the Death Stranding or Cyberpunk 2077 universes; for the latter, the anime spin-off Cyberpunk: Edgerunners scored better than the game. While we won't be seeing any Johnny Silverhand action, according to a few seconds from the teaser, we will have Keanu Reeves in Armored Core, no less.

If this anthology is a hit with viewers and critics (and why shouldn't it), we can expect more from Tim Miller and company for more video game-centric anthologies. Who knows? Maybe, we'll get to see an anthology centred on another pop culture genre. Horror, perhaps?

Secret Level is scheduled for a 10 December release on Prime Video
