Following the drop of a recent teaser trailer, global street culture tastemaket NIGO has now revealed his new collab with Japanese watch brand Casio, specifically its iconic G-Shock watch series.
After the previous stop-motion teaser animation showcased logos and mysterious blobs of clay, the founder of Human Made (ex-Penfolds creative partner and current artistic director of KENZO), revealed a follow-up video unveiling four G-Shock "characters" that draw inspiration from four of G-Shock’s most enduring and celebrated models.
The characters are a fun exercise in design, drawing inspiration from G-Shock’s classic iconic square design DW-5000; the DW-6900 which featuring three circular digital displays; GA-2100 with an octagonal bezel; and GA-110 boasting its large, dimensional case. Naturally, NIGO makes them his own showcasing unique colour ways and design elements that he has become so renowned for.
The project’s branding is equally sharp. The special “OGIN: G-SHOCK” logo, created by reversing NIGO’s name, is a stroke of creative genius. It’s a design that reflects how NIGO redefines the pop cultures he has influenced, ensuring they remain relevant across different eras and places around the globe.
