When Pharrell Williams conceived his first perfume for Louis Vuitton with master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the idea was to capture light—scent and visual—in a bottle. The resulting LVERS eau de parfum reflects the intensity of sunlight with notes of galbanum, cedarwood, sandalwood, bergamot and ginger. The first whiff strikes strong with bergamot and galbanum, mixed in with a refreshing body of ginger, and then settles into the formulation's woodier aspects.
The design of the flaçon in itself is different from the rest of Louis Vuitton's Les Parfums collection. In order to capture the nuances of light, glassmaker Pochet du Courval used a thermoluster technique to create an iridescent effect on the glass. The flaçon looks as though light has passed through a prism, splitting it into different, subtle hues.
That was back in 2024.
One year later, Louis Vuitton and Williams are celebrating the first anniversary of the latter's first perfume for the Maison. If it's not already a beautiful addition to one's perfume shelf collection, Williams is upping the ante with a truly limited-edition version that's reflective of his Louis Vuitton menswear aesthetics.
If the original captures light in a rather pure form, the LVERS Copper Edition gleams through copper's striking visual. Cast completely from pure copper, the limited-edition flaçon is inspired by William's Spring/Summer 2024 menswear collection where, referencing the copper plates used in the Maison's trunks, he created a series of copper-plated hardsided pieces as well as copper-effect bags. The flaçon is crafted by artisans in Florence using the ancient method of lost-wax casting. Essentially, this involves a wax mould per bottle which is encapsulated in a plaster form into which melted copper is poured. The Maison's signature Monogram appears as engravings, but is actually brought to life through the lost-wax technique. The resulting matte copper is then polished to end up with a brilliant glow.
The LVERS Copper Edition is undoubtedly an objet d'art filled with a luxury fragrance. And like the Maison's leather creations, the flaçon is meant to naturally age and patina over time—adding a personalisation that's unique to each piece.
The LVERS Copper Edition eau de parfum is limited to only 30 pieces worldwide, and is available from 5 June 2025 in select Louis Vuitton boutiques.
