Hublot has never been one to tiptoe around experimentation. From rainbow bezels studded with baguette-cut stones to having the late Karl Lagerfeld's cat be its latest ambassador, Hublot’s flamboyance has steadily poured life into its various collections for years. And now, here comes the latest addition to Hublot’s obsession with metamorphosis: the Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 coloured in bright orange and sky blue.
Said to be inspired by the sun, the sea and the sky of Mykonos—the new model doesn’t play coy. In fact, it’s pretty on the nose when it comes to embodying what it represents. The orange comes through Hublot’s signature ceramic case with a warm sheen achieved by micro-blasting the surface to mimic the glow of golden hour in a 42mm case. The Mediterranean Sea is embodied through a sky-blue bezel—matte and smooth.
It’s a playful duo of colours which makes the watch look like something you might expect to find in your child’s toy box, maybe next to a plastic dinosaur or a Buzz Light Year figurine.
But you know Hublot by now, and the build of their watches is anything but childlike. Underneath all that sunshine, the ceramic used in both bezel and case is tougher, denser, and more scratch-resistant than your usual ceramic.
This helps protect the familiar Unico movement, HUB1280, beating within. Self-winding with a flyback chronograph, the movement, of course, will not only be visible through its open-worked dial, but also the sapphire case back where a blue-plated oscillating weight spins lazily with every movement. Water resistance is at an even 100m, good for the occasional pool party.
The default strap takes the orange-blue theme further with a sky-blue rubber strap lined neatly with white along the edges. Leaning this heavy into a bold, vibrant colour palette might feel too intimidating for some. But this is one of those watches that demand time and place—think linen shirts, slip-ons, and salt-kissed hair.
Thanks to the brand’s patented One-Click strap system, oscillating between a dark blue or orange interchangeable rubber strap, both edged in white, is made much easier.
Still, no amount of strap-swapping is likely to sneak the Big Bang Unico Summer 2025 past the crisp walls of your office. But that’s fine—this is where Hublot’s obsession with metamorphosing its offerings comes in. There are safer and softer-spoken models for everyday wear. Just remember to pack this one with your passport for your next holiday.
