The way the Gucci cub3d sneakers move in its clever Dance Me Out campaign, you’d think that the sneakers were made for dancing in mind. Gucci invited members of French dance company La Marche Bleue, Léo Walk, Hortense de Gromard, and Mamadou Bathily, to celebrate the power of dance—its ability to free the spirit and express emotion through the beauty of movement.
The main focus of the campaign is on what moves the dancers as showcased by their individual self-expressions, and not on how they move or what’s aiding in their movements. But it’s difficult to ignore the fact that the Gucci cub3d sneakers are seen effortlessly following the dancers’ every movement and contorting to every step with plush comfort.
The design of the Gucci cub3d follows the trend of chunky sneakers that look like they’re stripped from the future. There’s this undeniably futuristic look to them, thanks to dynamic style lines and panels that interlock from one side to the other. The sole is the one that gives the Gucci cub3d its characteristically chunky silhouette. It’s EVA-filled and is moulded with the House’s Interlocking G logo scattered throughout its sinewy contours. And for maximum grip, the bottom layer is made of rubber.
But perhaps, what amps up its fluid-like comfort is the upper’s construction. It’s crafted from a mix of breathable mesh and Demetra—Gucci’s own material innovation that’s both durable and soft, and made from at least 70 per cent plant-based raw materials—which gives the Gucci cub3d its comfy, padded interior while keeping things lightweight for ease of movement from walking to even dancing.
The Gucci cubed sneakers are now available in boutiques and online.
