Esquire 10: The "New" Edit

We are always on the lookout for the new designs, innovations, techniques, etc. While some believe that there are no more original ideas, the items in this edit prove otherwise

1. B44 Blade sneakers, DIOR MEN

Much like co-conspirator Lewis Hamilton, the B44 Blade sneakers are anything but ordinary. The new Dior Men sneaker silhouette is part of the Lifestyle Capsule guest-designed by Hamilton and references sporty 2000s-era styles with colourways that exude energy and fearlessness. The distinctive “blade” element looks as though it is separating the heel from the rest of the sneaker for a retro-futuristic touch.

2. Original bag, RIMOWA

RIMOWA’s continuous exploration of lifestyle companions beyond luggage has culminated in its first aluminium bag. The Original bag utilises the brand’s iconic design language, essentially shrinking an aluminium luggage into a more portable top-handle bag for daily use. It weighs around 1kg (just slightly heavier than an average full leather bag) and is secured with an innovative mechanical lock that opens with a push of a button.

3. Belt buckle, HERMÈS

Much like lucky charms, this belt buckle congregates a number of Hermès equestrian signatures like the horseshoe, stirrup, and the Chain d’ancre. It’s reminiscent of oversized Western belt buckles but less cowboy and more Hermès in execution. Is it still a statement? It sure is—far more than the oft-maligned H belt.

4. QNTM Kato sunglasses, OAKLEY

The mask-like design of Oakley’s Kato sunglasses is revolutionary. It provides a wraparound fit for optimum colour enhancement and visibility. Its QNTM update amps up on the frameless design while offering a more rigid structure so that it fits and holds better. Who doesn’t want to look like a futuristic superhero?

5. Équipier messenger bag, HERMÈS

Don’t dismiss the Équipier messenger bag as a simple messenger bag with additional exterior zipped compartments. It’s actually been cleverly designed to fit on the handlebars of a bicycle; meticulously crafted with the right weight distribution so that the bag stays put. Even if you don’t cycle, the bag is a chic proposal on its own and not to mention, high on function.

6. Apple Watch Ultra 2, 49mm titanium case with titanium loop strap, APPLE

The beefed up Apple Watch Ultra 2 is specifically made to be an indispensable physical activity companion. Whether it is striving for a personal best while running and swimming, or calculating how high or low your hikes and dives are, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 has the tech that gets it done and more. The black titanium case is also designed for the toughest of environments so that the last thing you’ll have to worry about is whether it’ll stop functioning.

7. Etrier bracelet, HERMÈS

Like the other Hermès items in this edit, this bracelet is a great example of how the Maison nods to its heritage with a modern sensibility. With a clasp shaped like a stirrup (a subtle detail you wouldn’t necessarily notice) it’s an easy-to-wear piece that’ll add some panache to any outfit.

8. Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky aged 12 years, GLENDRONACH

It isn’t so much about the flavour profile of this 12-year-old Highland single malt but rather its revamped look. The new appearance is more pared down and modern while still exuding a sense of legacy. And of course, you'll still get the combined Spanish Pedro Ximénez and
Oloroso sherry casks expression with this glow-up.

9. Jet sneaker, HERMÈS

Hermès may not be known for its sneakers but the newly released Jet sneakers might change all that. There’s an undoubtedly throwback aesthetic about the Jet with its contrasting suede and technical canvas construction, but updated with details made for comfort—like an extended heel guard crafted from supple lambskin. Most importantly, it is still Hermès without being too Hermès, if you know what I mean.

10. The Skin Infusion, AUGUSTINUS BADER

Known for its proprietary TFC8 tech, Augustinus Bader is taking skin care to the next level. Powered by Advanced TFC8, The Skin Infusion is like a skin detox that you’d use only three or four times a year. It's meant to boost the delivery of key vitamins, lipids and peptides to skin cells. Each kit—packed in an insulated pouch to preserve freshness—contains three 15ml bottles to be used day and night over four weeks for optimum efficacy.
