Lewis Hamilton is seemingly using his collaborative effort with Kim Jones for Dior Men to celebrate his ancestry. And we're all for it.
“During my recent travels across Africa, I heard so many incredible stories that inspired me to imagine
the future of Black culture. The way we tell stories through art, science and philosophy is really
special," Hamilton says in the collection's notes. "Seeing these ideas brought to life through colour and movement inspired me. Afrofuturism felt like the perfect lens to express this collection with. This collection speaks of to the intersection of sportswear and fashion and how those two worlds coexist. For me, fashion has always been about self-expression and embracing all the different parts of yourself. Being authentic to your style and communicating yourself through clothing is such a powerful feeling. That’s what this collection embraces—an exploration of identity, versatility and expression."
If the first Dior Men Lifestyle Capsule collection was a taste of what a partnership between the brand ambassador and Jones was going to be, this latest edition leaned even more into their shared connection to Africa. Measured through an Afrofuturist lens of identity and expression, it’s a capsule collection that’s anything but ordinary.
