Observed in many Christian denominations, the Advent as a period of preparation for the celebration of Jesus' birth at Christmas (1 December-25 December). The Advent calendar was first popularised by German Lutherans in the 19th and 20th centuries and has spread to other Christian denominations. It can be a paper calendar, where one can tear off the flaps that cover each day until Christmas, or, if you wanna be elaborate, as a painted wooded box with cubby holes filled with random small treats.
These days, advent calendars do not need to have a religious slant. Anyone—Christian or non-Christian—can still count down to the Christmas holiday. After all, it is the spirit of giving.
TWG Tea reimagines ritual with a Twelfth Night Advent Calendar (advent calendars come in either 25 days or 12 days), this is limited-edition ode to anticipation and surprises. Think of this as chapters of a storybook, where the calendar unfurls across 12 instalments. Begin on 13 December and tear open each door that will reveal... well, tea. (I mean, what do you expect from a tea company? Coffee beans?)
But given that this is TWG Tea we are talking about, expect exquisite tea blends that include black tea, white tea, green tea, and other exclusive tea signatures.
And when you finally get to the last door—the Twelfth Night—it will be an evening of remembrance and a moment of reflection. And also tea. I mean, by this time, you'll be up to your gills with TWG TEA leaves. But congrats, you've made it to the end. Enjoy it, especially over a shared cup of hot tea.
