When you think of Converse, the first silhouette that'll likely come to mind is the Chuck Taylor—for good reason. But since the brand's inception in 1908, Converse have been churning out a multitude of styles that deserve honourable mentions. And as today's news shows, they've enlisted Tyler, The Creator to help.
The 34-year-old rapper—whose performing in London this week, FYI!—is the first collaborator on Converse's 1908 program, a platform where archive silhouettes will be honoured and brought into the 21st century through contemporary tweaks.
Introducing the first two designs to step back into the spotlight: the Naut-1 and the Coach Jogger.
Starting with the former, this boat-apropos slip-on comes in four designs. There's the block colours, baby blue and coffee brown, as well as printed styles, one stamped with Schnauzers and the "Le Fleur" moniker—the name of Tyler's own label—while the other is embroidered with flowers on its toe.
The Coach Jogger is the type of slim trainer that we've seen dominating the pavements as of late. It comes in three hues, that same baby blue and coffee shade as well as a forest green, and harks to the retro running shoes of the seventies and eighties.
Our bet is that they'll likely sell out imminently (especially that en vogue athletic option), but you needn't rush to stores just yet. A limited global release drops on 20 June on the Converse website, and if you happen to be in Los Angeles this summer, you can cop them at an exclusive 1908 pop-up happening in the city.
