We all know this to be true: Loro Piana lives and breathes textiles. Its name is synonymous with luxurious fabrics, so there is little need for the brand to be identified by a singular logo or motif. You’d tell a Loro Piana piece by touching and experiencing it rather than merely looking.
The same could be said of Loro Piana’s latest addition to its growing range of men’s bags. The Heddle tote is designed with a squarish silhouette and constructed almost entirely out of fabric. It comes in several fabric variations—cotton canvas, cashmere and silk—with each delivered in Irish tweed and Shetland textures for a more robust foundation so that the Heddle tote can function as intended. On the inside, the tote is lined with a full cashmere lining, echoing the brand’s penchant for touches of luxury that only a wearer is able to fully experience. The handles are crafted from leather with a cashmere base that interacts comfortably with the wearer’s body.

On the functional side of things, the Heddle tote is thought of as an everyday bag. The interior is spacious with practical pockets as well as a hidden laptop compartment. A leather tab with a snap button offers some security, but as with any tote, it’s more likely that you’d be throwing in your belongings and making full use of the space.
The name of the Heddle tote bag is taken from the heddle, a weaving tool that’s used on a loom to help guide warp threads. Loro Piana has a predilection for naming its bags after tools as well as materials of its trade (think the Loom, and the Bale bags). To the brand, the heddle is a symbol of movement, fabric and sensation—attributes that the Heddle exemplifies.
