What have we got here, then? Another round of Guy Ritchie’s landed-gentry-meets-gangland crime caper The Gentlemen? Lovely jubbly.

A spin-off from Ritchie’s film of the same name, the Netflix series became a roaring success when its first season landed in 2024, so it was no great surprise when the streamer quickly confirmed that a follow-up had been given the green light. Still, in the nearly two years since that good news arrived, we haven’t had much in the way of updates. Until now, that is.

Esquire can reveal that season two of the mob drama will debut on Netflix on 3 September. On top of that, we have an exclusive first-look teaser trailer to give us an idea of what’s in store:

Below, you'll find everything you need to know about the new season (and what you need to catch up on before it arrives).

How did The Gentlemen season one end?

At the end of The Gentlemen season one, Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone) revealed that he never had any intention of selling his business. It was all a set-up to see whether Eddie Horniman, Duke of Halstead (Theo James) and Bobby’s daughter, Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), could work together on the family’s criminal empire. The answer, plainly, was yes—and Eddie even turned to the dark side, executing a rival to eliminate the competition.

Eddie and Susie—now kind of frenemies, with a frisson of romantic tension thrown in?—became the new leaders of the operation, while Bobby and Stanley Johnston (Giancarlo Esposito) ended up behind bars. Still, as prisons go, it looked pretty fancy.

Who’s in the cast, and what’s the plot?

Alongside James and Scodelario, confirmed returning cast members include Ray Winstone, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Vu and Pearce Quigley. New additions include Hugh Bonneville and Maya Jama.

As for the plot, the official synopsis confirms that the new season will pick up a year after season one ends: “It’s been one year since Eddie and Susie joined forces to work together in Bobby’s criminal empire overseas. As they drive to expand their enterprise, the decisions Bobby is making seem to be increasingly unsound. Now Eddie and Susie must decide whether to take action or risk losing it all, but unfettered ambition never ends well...”

In May 2025, presumably just before filming began, Ritchie also suggested the show would swap at least some of the English countryside for the Italian lakes. “This chapter sees a deliberate expansion, both geographically and thematically, as we journey from the English countryside to the Italian lakes. Eddie and Susie find themselves navigating an increasingly volatile empire as they’re besieged on all fronts by an influx of enigmatic new players.

“The stakes are heightened, the power dynamics are more precarious,” he added, “and I’m thrilled to be collaborating once again with this exceptional cast and crew.”
