Tom Holland Wore a Truly Bespoke Gieves & Hawkes Suit

One of the stars of The Odyssey went to the movie's global premiere in a suit specifically crafted with a pretty cool detail

We're not going to lie, it's quite a task remembering who's part of The Odyssey cast. We may have glazed over the fact that Tom Holland is in the Christopher Nolan epic, especially when the film has quite a stacked cast, and that we're quite looking forward to the next instalment of Marvel's Spider-Man. But yes, the actor plays Telemacus, the son of Odysseus and Penelope—played by Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway respectively.

Naturally, Holland attended the global premiere of The Odyssey in London, together with wife (we think?) Zendaya. Like we said, stacked.

Befitting of the occasion, Holland opted for a suit. The double-breasted two-piece was crafted by Savile Row tailor Gieves & Hawkes, drawing inspiration from his character's armour in the film that largely consists of warm browns, rich burgundy, and muted golden accents. The dinner jacket is finished with a satin peak lapel and buttons as well as slanted double jett pockets. The latter is something you don't normally see on dinner jackets, and is drawn from those found on peacoats and similar outerwear. It's not immediately apparent but the pockets do draw the attention towards the waist, creating a slimming effect; not that Holland needs it but it's a clever solution to counter the typically boxy effect of a double-breasted.

What makes the Gieves & Hawkes suit truly a bespoke piece is in the cloth. The entire suit was crafted entirely in England, with the cloth made at Stephen Walters—the only remaining jacquard mill in the country. "As part of the enduring house codes of Gieves & Hawkes, we continue to draw inspiration from our distinguished Naval heritage through unique fabric and pattern design. For this chapter, we developed a signature stripe inspired by Morse code signalling, with the dashes and dots subtly spelling ‘G&H’," explains Gieves & Hawkes design director Joshua Scacheri. "In creating the bespoke jacquard for Tom Holland for the premiere of The Odyssey, we evolved this concept further, crafting a new Morse code motif that translates to ‘The Odyssey’.

The cloth of Holland's suit is essentially a bespoke jacquard that spells out the epic film that he's part of—how epic. The fact that it looks entirely like pinstripes too, albeit disjointed, is quite ingenious. Zendaya is already known for being a master at embodying the essence of a project through fashion while on press tours, and it seems like Holland is taking notes too.

The Odyssey will show in cinemas in Singapore from 16 July 2026.
