Esquire 10: The "New Year, New You" Edit

Say goodbye to the old, and hello to the new year, and a new you. To help with the transition, here’s an edit dedicated to the latest and finest things in life

1. Verso hobo bag, LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton’s latest LV Touch series combines Pharrell Williams’ penchant for workwear codes with the Maison’s ingenuity. This Verso Hobo bag is made to be reversible, offering the option of a smooth grained calfskin exterior or suede—both in the same hue. It features the line’s subtle, distinguishable elements: a V-stitched pocket and carabiner-shaped hardware.

2. Tabi loafer, MAISON MARGIELA

If you haven’t tried on a pair of Tabi loafers, we recommend that you do so. And soon. Don’t be put off by the toe-separating shape; it’s actually more comfortable than imagined. The separation allows for a more natural feet position (instead of being squished together) and negates whatever odd feeling you may think you’d experience. And of course, it's a real conversation starter.

3. iPhone Air, APPLE

Lightweight and holding the crown for the thinnest iPhone ever, the iPhone Air is the brand’s latest innovation, proving that size matters. Yet, the iPhone Air is comparable to the 17 Pro model in terms of capabilities. It’s also designed with a titanium frame that’s arguably much hardier than the aluminium make of the other iPhone models in the same release.

4. Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m, 42mm steel case with steel bracelet, OMEGA

It has been 20 years since the first OMEGA Planet Ocean was released and the brand decided to revamp it. Despite the altered architecture, which includes a significantly thinner case, this fourth-generation Planet Ocean timepiece retains the traits that made it an icon.

5. Rodeo Robeo bag charm, HERMÈS

The Hermès Rodeo charm has quickly gone the way of its silk twilly scarves—signature bag adornments without the need to brandish a logo. This Robeo version comes with a removable leather coat blanket sporting the number 24 (another key Hermès insignia) that’s an excellent nod to Hermès’ equestrian heritage. Also, 2026 is the Year of the Horse, so there’s no better time to adopt a symbol of power.

6. Sherry Oak 18 Years Old, 2025 release, THE MACALLAN

It’s the sherry seasoned European oak casks that makes a difference in The Macallan’s Sherry Oak 18 Years Old. The maturing process highlights the fruitiness of the spirit with a robust depth of flavour. Toast to the new year with a glass—neat or on the rocks, of course—for an exceptional start to a (hopefully) brilliant year.

7. Original Cross-Body bag 16, RIMOWA

RIMOWA’s first aluminium bag was launched late last year, offering a new way to carry its distinct design language. The latest iteration is a slightly more compact size with a 16.3cm height. It might also mean that there’s a bit of a decrease in interior space, but it’s hardly noticeable given the width of the bag remains intact. If anything, the bag is now less bulky when worn crossbody.

8. Lucky Arrows pendant in white gold with diamonds and mother of pearl, MIKIMOTO

We could all do with a little bit of luck. Mikimoto’s Lucky Arrows pendant is designed with arrows set in a radial pattern meant to symbolise the striking of fortune from every direction possible. Because why settle for just one?

9. Decision eau de parfum, AMOUAGE

Decision is one of those fragrances that seems to envelope you with a soothing warmth. The frankincense note is prominent at first whiff before the calming sweetness of vanilla begins to take its hold. Amouage’s perfume artistry ensures that the scent lingers, and in a decisive way that says, I’m here.

10. Scarf, CELINE

Michael Rider brings forth a fresh take on CELINE as its latest creative director with plenty of explosive colours. Silk scarves pay homage to the House’s beginnings featuring motifs central to its DNA. This particular piece measures 90cm on all sides and is hand-rolled for that refined sense of savoir-faire.
