Last Call for The Macallan Tea Experience

Tomorrow is the last day for your neat whisky and tea pairing ritual
Published: 8 September 2025

Here's another chapter in The Macallan's Harmony Collection. This time it drew inspiration from some of the world’s rarest and most expressive teas. Partnering with JING—specialists in single-garden teas—the distillery introduces two new limited-edition single malts: Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea.

The Harmony Collection is all about exploring unexpected connections between whisky and the wider natural world. And this latest release continues that journey. blending the traditions of Scotch whisky-making with the delicate artistry of tea. Just as JING sources its teas directly from gardens, The Macallan oversees every stage of production—from sherry seasoning in Jerez de la Frontera to the oak forests of Spain and the US.

Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea are a study in contrasts: one bright and fruity, the other dark and smoky. Together, they showcase the vast flavour spectrum of tea, and how it can inspire whisky to push beyond expectations.

Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea: A Domestic Release

Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team, Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea pays homage to a rare oolong grown in the Phoenix Mountain range of Guangdong, China. Known for its dessert wine aromas and tropical fruit notes, the tea has inspired a whisky layered with peach, apricot, floral honey, tropical fruits, toffee, and sweet oak.

Matured predominantly in Sherry Seasoned American oak casks, the whisky has an added depth from European oak and a subtle bourbon cask influence. The result: a warm honey-coloured dram of remarkable complexity.

Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea: A Travel Retail Exclusive

For global travellers, The Macallan offers Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, a whisky that reflects JING’s modern take on the traditional Lapsang Souchong (a personal favourite). Smoked delicately over cherrywood in the UK, the tea’s rich, aromatic character translates into a bold whisky matured primarily in Sherry Seasoned European oak casks. Expect a sensorially rich experience that mirrors the tea’s depth and smokiness.

A Tea Ritual

By way of the introduction of The Macallan's Harmony Collection—the House has organised a bespoke whisky and tea pairing ritual. Drawing from the Chaozhou gongfu tea ceremony (工夫茶) originated in Eastern Guangdong, guests get to savour a dram of The Macallan Harmony inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and... well, Chinese tea. (You also get to bathe a chachong or tea pet, which is better experienced than me describing it.)

Those looking to yumcha (and yum whisky) can register here. Today and tomorrow are the final days for the tea rituals.

The Macallan Inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea retails for SGD252 and is available online and at The Macallan House Singapore. The Macallan Inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea is only available as a Global Travel Retail.
