A formal dress code is taken pretty loosely these days. While it's typical to see a rather standard template of suiting at the Venice Film Festival (or any other film festival for that matter), this year's edition saw some breaking away from the norm. But that's not to say that the actors and guests were dressing down for the event, especially on the red carpet. The best looks were still tailored and suited up; just a tad more relaxed.
Andrew Garfield's dusty blue Dior ensemble—a custom by new creative director Jonathan Anderson—was a more relaxed styling with an undone tie slung over like a skinny scarf. His neck wasn't left bare though, as a Bvlgari necklace was positioned at the perfect length. A similar look was embodied by Oscar Isaac who also went sans tie with his Celine tuxedo jacket. There were still those who leaned in on the formal, opting for evening standards and suit-and-tie combinations while cleverly playing with proportions and stylish accoutrements.
