Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025: From the BR-01 Comes New Novelties from Bell & Ross

Bell & Ross redefined the tool watch with the BR-01. Two decades later, the brand celebrates its anniversary with new BR-05 and BR-03 models

It started with the BR-01. When Bell & Ross introduced the model in 2005, it made its intentions clear: a 46mm square case, four visible screws, and a design inspired by cockpit instruments. The BR-01 marked the start of a now unmistakable design language.

Bell & Ross through the years

Two decades on, the brand celebrates that legacy with its “20 Years of Boldness” campaign at Watches and Wonders 2025. But this isn’t just a retrospective, it’s also about what’s next. New movements, new materials, and new proportions show that Bell & Ross is still evolving its instrument-first philosophy.

In 2006, the BR-01 led to the BR-03, a scaled down model at 42mm. It became a blank slate for innovation like the "Skull" series and the "Flight Instruments" collection; even high complications were explored with models like the BR-X1 Tourbillon and BR-X2.

The BR-03 was re-proportioned once again in 2023—this time to 41mm. Sure, a milimetre of difference is negligible but with a leaner watch profile, it remains rooted in instrument heritage but more wearable than ever.

This year, the BR-03 range has the Skeleton trilogy—a troika of models equipped with a skeleton movement (Caliber BR-CAL.328): the BR-03 Skeleton Black Ceramic, the BR-03 Skeleton Grey Steel, and the BR-03 Skeleton Lum Ceramic. All three are outfitted with the new BR-CAL.328, a finely skeletonised automatic movement built exclusively for the brand. The movement’s upper bridges form an X-shaped frame and are visually anchored to the case screws.

The most direct evolution from Bell & Ross’ aviation roots is the BR-03 Skeleton Black Ceramic. Its smoked sapphire dial and black ceramic case provide a stealthy backdrop for the Super-LumiNova-ed indices and skeletonised hands. Taking a more refined turn is the BR-03 Skeleton Grey Steel with a metallic polish and faceting and a ruthenium dial for added reflectivity. Finally, we have the BR-03 Skeleton Lum Ceramic that looks like a futuristic sports watch in the day and by night, its green Super-LumiNova is outlined and tinted skeleton dial glow like a sci-fi control panel.

We have a BR-05 that's launched in a new 36mm case. It's a sleeker, more urban answer to the cockpit aesthetic. With a 8.5mm-thick profile and a more universal fit, an automatic Caliber BR-CAL.329 movement with a 54-hour power reserve keeps it running smoothly—and thinly.

All three hands (hours, minutes, seconds) are rhodium-plated and filled with white Super-LumiNova. The dial, available in black, grey, ice blue, or mother-of-pearl, carries a sunray lacquered finish and bold applied numerals—designed for legibility without losing visual appeal. The steel bracelet matches the case’s polished-satin interplay, sitting flush and comfortable on the wrist.
