For a place that's known for serving oysters, Humpback will finally dedicate a two-night festival (20-21 February) to the molluscs. Called the Oyster Festival, of course, the event's main stars are the oysters that have always been flown in from Hama Hama Farm, and its partners, in Washington. We could go on about the flavour of Pacific Northwest oysters or the varied taste profiles in this region, but we've tried some of them and we're no oyster sommeliers (wait, is there such a thing as an oyster sommelier?) but it tasted cleaner and sweeter than its East Coast counterparts.
Expect oysters at happy hour prices of SGD3 per pop or have them as a Po Boy. each. Specific to the event, are a Clam Dip and Smoked Norwegian Salmon. It's not all eating though, there will be challenges for guests to partake in; challenges like shucking oysters or asking a Humpback staff about a fun trivia about himself. You can also learn more about Hama Hama or how oysters are farmed (beach grown, tumbled or bag-on-beach).
