It’s been 14 years since H&M first started its now-annual designer collaborations. Strangely, that’s how long it took H&M to tap Jeremy Scott for an exclusive collection. The American fashion designer is known for his cheeky and culturally sensitive designs that has commercially revived the Moschino brand, so it does seem rather odd that this is the first time that the designer is collaborating with H&M. But it is happening this year and it’s poised to draw in the crowds.
MOSCHINO [tv] H&M (as it is called), is what one would expect from Moschino by Jeremy Scott: unapologetically fun fashion. There’s the unmistakably Moschino silhouettes and details, such as a leather biker jacket trimmed with braided leather-and-gold chains, and chunky leather boots. And then there’s the riff on the MTV logo mashed up with Moschino, a prominent graphic seen on hoodies, joggers and the likes. If you’re a fan of cartoons like Scott is, you’ll be gravitating towards the Mickey Mouse and friends prints that are available on tees, jumpers and joggers.
A word of caution though: there’s a strong ’90s hip-hop and pop music elements to the designs (hence the MTV tie-up) so the fit is generally quite oversized and roomy. The denim dungarees for example, take the shape of incredibly high-waisted jeans, reminiscent of the ones Marky Mark used to wear back in the day. But if you like your things big, the ridiculously oversized backpack and glove-shaped beanie are what you should definitely grab first on launch day.
For the first time in a H&M designer collaboration, the MOSCHINO [tv] H&M collection will also be featuring a few pieces for your favourite pup. Walk your dog while holding on to a leather leash that’s connected to a Moschino-branded collar, or get it (Lil Bow Wow? Cardog B?) all dressed in doggie streetwear.
The MOSCHINO [tv] H&M collection will launch on 8 November 2018 at selected H&M stores and online. View the price list of the men’s and dog’s pieces in the gallery above.
