Moncler Genius has drastically changed the way Moncler operated for the past year. Monthly drops of new collections—each one almost totally unrelated and conceptually different from the next—by different sets of fashion collaborators, was the basis of Moncler Genius’ ‘one house, different voices’ motto. And if the past year saw eight individual voices expressing Moncler in new ways, the Italian brand is taking it a step further with 12 collaborators for autumn/winter 2019.
Of the 12 Geniuses for autumn/winter 2019, six of them are pioneers of the Moncler Genius project. Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino, Sandro Mandrino, Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Hiroshi Fujiwara of Fragment Design, and Palm Angels’ Francesco Ragazzi, will all continue to interpret Moncler for the coming season.
The latest additions would probably be familiar faces too.
Liya Kebede: An Ethiopian model who has graced the runways of many fashion brands, as well as the covers of fashion glossies the world over, Kebede is also the founder of an ethical fashion label, lemlem. She will partner up with Pierpaolo Piccioli for Moncler Genius autumn/winter 2019.
Sergio Zambon and Veronica Leoni: The head of menswear at Moncler, Zambon will work together with Leoni for Moncler 1952.
Matthew Williams: Founder of cult brand 1017 ALYX 9SM, Williams has most recently (and notably) worked with Kim Jones at Dior Men. Williams’ signature buckle design transformed Dior’s Saddle bag and made it relevant for men.
Richard Quinn: Quinn is a young fashion designer who’s based in London. Known for his vibrant floral prints, Quinn gained mainstream recognition when Amal Clooney chose to wear his design (instead of a Tom Ford creation as planned) to the 2018 Met Gala.
Poldo Dog Couture: This won’t be the first time that Poldo Dog Couture has collaborated with Moncler. The luxury Italian brand for dogs has previously created capsule collections with Moncler on a couple of occasions, with the most recent one launched in November 2018.
The full scale of Moncler Genius autumn/winter 2019 will be launched during Milan Fashion Week on 20 February 2019 at the Moncler Genius Building. Additionally, the venue will be open to public on 24 February 2019.
