In case you missed it, Disney is releasing three live-action remakes of its classic movies. There's Aladdin, featuring a blue Will Smith, coming out in May. The Lion King will be in cinemas this July, starring the voices of Donald Glover, Beyoncé and Chiwetel Ejiofor. And in a couple of weeks, Dumbo will be showing in theatres islandwide. Just from the trailer alone, we're expecting the flying elephant to be tugging at your heartstrings.
Taking it back a few decades, Spanish fashion house Loewe will be releasing an exclusive capsule based on the original 1941 animated Dumbo film. The Dumbo capsule collection is an extension of the spring/summer 2019 collection, which features a look printed with the character and Timothy Q. Mouse—Dumbo's best friend who just so happens to be a mouse. This capsule collection is completely unrelated to the release of the reimagined Dumbo film, and is in fact, an element that makes up Loewe's child-like spring/summer 2019 collection.
The Dumbo capsule collection employs Loewe's signature marquetry technique on two of the brand's staples—the Goya backpack and the T-pouch. Drawing on Dumbo's bluish-grey colour, Loewe will release the accessories in a 'stone-blue' colourway. The Goya backpacks come in two different sizes for the capsule collection, while the T-pouch will be available in only one size.
Dumbo also appears on ready-to-wear pieces that echo the same child-like innocence that the spirit of Dumbo embodies. An almost pyjama-esque set that's seen in the spring/summer 2019 collection, features the same Dumbo print on a polo-neck shirt as well as the back of the trousers. The former is also seen on a dark blue jumper and a pale pink T-shirt. But for those who fancy more prints, there are options such as a lightweight jacket and a pair of shorts.
The Loewe Dumbo capsule collection will be available exclusively at the Loewe Paragon boutique from 29 March 2019. Stand to win a chance to shop the collection a day early by registering your interest.
