A good white shirt is like a best friend. They're great company at work and at every event, always dependable when you're in a rut, and the world is a better place when you have them. Sure, a white shirt can be a pain to keep pristine and well, white, but just like every best friend, there's bound to be a little bit of work needed. All worth it in the end though.
Swedish brand COS is especially known for its many interpretations of the classic white shirt. Over the years, COS has launched many small capsule collections featuring white shirts done in various styles, tweaking fabrications and design details to make each one unique. So intrinsic is the white shirt in its ethos, COS even introduced a one-off unisex white shirt in 2014.
The White Shirt Project is the culmination of an idea that's central to COS. Consisting eight different variations of white shirts—three of them for men, and five for women—the capsule collection explores subtlety in fashion design. Each white shirt was designed and created within the COS atelier, allowing the design team to freely play around with altering design details such as lengths of cuffs and sleeves, button closures, as well as silhouette.
Even though the capsule collection is separated into two different categories, the designs are rather fluid in nature; as with almost every design at COS. The women's long-length variation for example, can be easily adopted as a more slimming alternative to an oversized casual shirt.
COS' The White Shirt Project is now available online and in stores.
