It didn’t feel too long since Lewis Hamilton had clinched the gold at last year’s Grand Prix held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The race was especially significant as the largest annual sporting event in Asia was purportedly coming to a close with its 10th year. Fortunately, with the announcement of a two-year extension by its sponsor, Singapore Airlines, Singapore Grand Prix is back in full force with a stellar line-up of racers and, of course, entertainers.
The race night opens with King of Mandopop, Jay Chou on Friday, followed by The Killers— band behind “Mr. Brightside”, and former Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher, who will be taking the centre stage on the second night for the die-hard rock fans. Chart-topping DJ Martin Garrix will also be in Singapore after missing out on this year’s Ultra Festival, closing the race together with “Scared to be Lonely” and “New Rules” singer, Dua Lipa.
Sure, things on the ground are exciting, but if you just want to watch the race from a distance, away from burnt tarmac smells, loud revving engines and sweaty armpits of concert-goers, here are some hotspots to lounge in and spectate the action (in air-conditioning).
